Tonight I finished the last part of the Senior Project Experience, the binder. The binder holds all papers and pictures that were part of every step in the process. Just to give you a glimpse of how much information is in there, I started with one hundred page protectors and i have about fifteen page protectors left.
Lastly, I want to say thank you for following along this amazing journey with me! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

5/6/2020 0 Comments Thank You LettersOne of our final tasks was to write a thank you letter to our mentor and the school board and administration. In these letters we were able to thank our mentors for their time and teaching us amazing things and to thank the school board and administration for this opportunity. In my letter to the school board and administration I told them about my research paper and project and thanked them for giving me an amazing opportunity and for allowing me to use school facilities for my project.
As I have one more thing to finish, I hope you continue to follow the last two days of my journey. Thanks to Covid-19 we cannot present our presentations in front of the public or judges, so we get to make our presentation on power point and record our voices. For my theme I chose a colorful one to represent the disorders that people have who use therapy animals. On each slide I have notes written for when I record my voice on the power point. Once I finish the power point presentation and submit it I have to finish the binder and write two thank you letters, and then I will be completely finished with he Senior Experience!
I hope you continue to follow the last few days of my journey! 5/4/2020 0 Comments My struggles with Covid-19When I chose to do my petting zoo in the end of March it was in hopes that it would be warm enough for the animals outside and for the people who came to it. Taken by surprise, Corona Virus came to and made it so I had to cancel my petting zoo. All the hard work and effort put into this project was now done for nothing and I was heartbroken. I had no motivation to continue working on senior project, I felt like everything was just a waist, but I knew I had to finish if I wanted to graduate. I decided to push through and finish the process.
With only a few days left, I hope you finish following my journey. 5/3/2020 0 Comments Senior MeetingThanks to the Corona Virus we could not have our mandatory senior project binder meeting in person, so we did it on zoom. It was harder to stay focused at home compared to at school but I pushed through and got what I needed accomplished. We talked about how to make our power point presentations and and how to present them in this uncertain time.
Continue to follow my journey as it comes to an end! 5/2/2020 0 Comments Last Mentor SessionI had my final mentor session on March 17 to finish my hours up with my mentor before knowing the state was going to completely shut down. During this session I got to clean stalls, saddle horses, walk horses, take care of goats, scoop horse poop up, and talk with clients. Although I was not able to have my petting zoo this experience was amazing and definitely one to remember.
Continue to follow the end of my senior experience journey! 5/1/2020 0 Comments Mentor Session ~ February 28On this day, i got to take car of 3 month old colts and two day year old kids. This was the best learning experiment, because I got to learn how and why farmers try and find another mother for a goat to get milk from them instead of buying milk replacer. I also got to saddle up 3 horses, feed all the horses, and walk a horse out to the pasture. I had so much fun this day!
I hope you continue to follow my journey! 3/11/2020 0 Comments Mentor Session~February 27thSorry that i am so behind on talking about my mentor sessions, life gets really crazy sometimes. This day i only stayed an hour before having to get back home to go to the Region girls basketball game that decided if our girls went to the Sodak 16 or not. On this day i worked on finding animals and supplies for my petting zoo, which consisted of contacting many different people that my mentor thought of. It was a quick session, but lots got done.
I will continue to update my mentor sessions and please continue to follow along to see how my journey slowly finishes. 3/9/2020 0 Comments Mentor Session ~ February 21On February 21st I had a session with my mentor after a month and a half of not seeing him. It was long overdue to get back there and not being there had set me back from getting time in and figuring out what I am going to do with my petting zoo. I stayed for two hours that day and worked on making a date and time for my petting zoo, having a silent auction with it, and finding animals for it. I also made my poster and got the chance to understand the different breeds of goats. Dairy goats are the ones used in rodeos, meet goats are a very profitable animal, and Pygmy goats are the pet goats because they do not get very big.
I cannot wait until the petting zoo where all my hard work will pay off, and I hope you continue to enjoy following my experiences as i continue this journey. 1/29/2020 0 Comments Tips to make Senior Project EasierIn past years I have heard many complaints about how time consuming senior projects are and that they are a burden. I listened to them and thought to myself it can not be that bad, and it truly is not. If you do not procrastinate and plan ahead of time it makes things easier. Here are 5 tips I found helpful:
1. Choose a topic that interests you and you will enjoy working on it for fifteen plus hours. 2. Find a mentor you know that has experience in at least one part of your topic. Whether it be an event organizer or an animal therapy expert. 3. Take a picture of their schedule and give them one of yours to be able to coordinate better. 4. At a session be prepared to set up a couple more times to meet. 5. Let your mentor know what you want to get out of each session. Stay tuned to continue following my journey! |
